Official Music Video
“Mundalamo” is more than a name, it is a lineage, a legacy and a declaration of identity.
In “Mundalamo (Reprise)”, Papa Thile celebrates the Vhandalamo lineage and proudly declares:
Nṋe Thilemelwi ndi Mukololo.
I am the son of Takalanie Edith Mukwevho and Mphiriseni Nyamande wa Mundalamo.
The song is a celebration of the Vhandalamo heritage and its royal houses, while honouring the great lineage that came before us.
I proudly speak of being a descendant of Tshishonga, the great conqueror associated with the legendary magical golden pipe (Nanga ya Musuku ya maḓembe), named Ṱilimuṱose, and the powerful magical drum known as Ngomalungundu ya Luvhimbe.
On the visuals
For the visual story, we chose an African warrior-inspired aesthetic, drawing from the animal skins historically associated with African warriors and royalty. The imagery represents strength, courage, heritage and pride, bringing the spirit of the ancestors into a cinematic world.

06Rooted in Culture
Tshivenḓa is part of the sound.

The work is rooted in African spirituality and tradition, and in the everyday life it comes from: love, culture, and the things a community holds in common.
Performing in Tshivenḓa is a celebration of that identity, and it keeps the language in use. The songs carry motivational and educational messages; preserving the language through music is part of what they are for.
I proudly serve as the Official Praise Singer of Chief Tshedza Tshinetise Ravhura of Makonde Village.
07Impact
Words can move a community.
A song that opened dialogue
Papa Thile wrote and produced O khakha fhi? Carried by radio, it raised awareness of gender-based violence and moved people to talk about it. The thing a song can do that a statement cannot.
The poets coming up
Beyond the stage, Papa Thile is a mentor and motivator to emerging poets, particularly in rural communities. His journey has led the path for young talents who see in him a role model, proving that poetry can be a powerful career and cultural expression.
Through his words, he revives forgotten stories and celebrates the beauty of African languages, bridging the gap between generations through the spoken word.
